NOC Kosovo honored Janez Kocijancic with planted a tree on the World Environment Day

The Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOC) marked today, 5th of June - the World Sports and Environment Day, which was attended by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Vlora Dumoshi and sports directors and heads of Kosovo municipalities.

The NOC Kosovo honored the President of the European Olympic Committee, Janez Kocijancic, who passed away three days ago.

On the occasion of World Environment and Sports Day, KOC planted an Olympic Tree in Pristina named after Janez Kocijancic.

“Janez was a great friend of Kosovo’s athletes, especially the Olympic Movement in Kosovo.”

“Exactly at the moment of service of his funeral in Slovenia, we are planting a tree which will be dedicated to the great deed and hard work that Janez has done for our athletes. He was a strong supporter of the KOC’s recognition by the IOC and the EOC, as well as the recognition of many sports federations by the international ones”, – said NOC Kosovo President, Besim Hasani.

In honor of him participants held a minute of silence.

KOC heads, President Besim Hasani and General Secretary Shasivar Haxhijaj, together with the MCYS, the Rector of the University of Prishtina, Marjan Dema, and the municipalities, each planted a tree.
