Majlinda Kelmendi is proclaimed ambassador of the campaign “Let's color the country”
Tuesday, NOC-Kosovo and the non-governmental organization “Let's Clean Kosovo” (LCK) launched the largest national campaign for planting 1.8 million trees, entitled “Let’s color the country”.
The campaign envisages that within 10 years, 1.8 million trees will be planted throughout Kosovo, as many as the inhabitants of Kosovo, based on the latest statistics.
Its launching event at the University of Prishtina Campus Olympic Corner, was attended by senior figures of sports and politics.
NOC-Kosovo President Besim Hasani and LCK Executive Director Luan Hasanaj appointed the Olympic champion from Rio 2016, the judoka Majlinda Kelmendi, as campaign ambassador.
“We all know that mankind is so connected to nature, so in my opinion this is the most adequate project to be implemented in Kosovo when it comes of protecting our air,” Kelmendi said.
At the end, participants planted a tree each, which were named after themselves or the organization.
